A Fairytale Place in the Heart of Jutland is about how Carl-Henning Pedersen's museum in Herning came into being.

In the introduction, Erik Andreasen writes about Carl-Henning Pedersen's approach to watercolour painting. Sidsel Ramson talks about the book's illustrations, while the main text is written by Carl-Henning Pedersen himself. Here, he paints a picture of the difficulties and, not least, the political aspects of carrying out the museum construction in Herning.

The book is illustrated with vibrant watercolours from the years 1936 to 1958.
