In Japan, a new world opened up for Else Alfelt – a world where her art finally found its true reflection.
Throughout her life, she had intuitively created her art based on Japanese models in her repeated depictions of the cosmos.
This became clear to Alfelt in 1967 when she visited Japan for the first time. She described the journey as a revelation. Impressions from the temple gardens in Kyoto and the full moon over Fuji emerged in her art along with the brushstrokes of calligraphy.
