"The man who would catch the sun" tells the life story of the painter Carl-Henning Pedersen. Through excerpts from a series of narratives, the inspiration behind some of the artist's paintings is highlighted. The book concludes with a series of poems that children in 5th grade at Børneskolen Bifrost have written to Carl-Henning Pedersen's paintings.

The book is written in an easy-to-read language, so that children from 3rd grade will be able to read it themselves. It can also be used for reading aloud or storytelling aimed at the youngest age groups.

A teaching guide has been developed for the book: "Carl-Henning Pedersen's adventurous universe - "blue" for inspiration", which focuses on Carl-Henning's adventurous life and on Carl-Henning as the master of imagination, colours, and storytelling.

The background for the two books is that the teachers at Børneskolen Bifrost in Herning decided for a few months in the autumn of 2003 to let the school's teaching revolve around the person and artist Carl-Henning Pedersen. While the children in the biography hear the good story of an exciting man, they get under the skin of the painter's art when they work with the various activities and subject areas described in the teaching guide.

Both books are richly illustrated with, among other things, the children's own works and Carl-Henning Pedersen's artworks.
